What's a Doula?

• Up to two prenatal visits with you to explore and discuss your priorities, concerns and questions you might have (existing HypnoBirthing or Amani students have one visit)
• Meet with your partner and discuss how to best work together and exactly what you and your partner expect from me as your doula
• Discuss birth preferences/ birth plan options
• If requested accompany you to a doctor’s appointment
• Unlimited phone and email support
• Additional visits can be arranged

I will be on call for you 24hrs a day beginning two (2) weeks before your estimated due date up until labour, however because I have children and have regular weekend classes occasionally another doula may have to take my place.

• Provide early labor support as requested
• I will remain with you once active labor has begun until delivery
• I will strive to maintain a calm and peaceful birth environment
• Give you encouragement, reassurance and facilitate the communication between you and the medical staff
• I help with suggestions to help labor progress, relaxation, massage, positioning
• I make sure, that your needs are met
• Take photographs if desired

• I will stay with you for about 1-2hrs after delivery, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time
• During this time I can take photos of your new family
• Help with initial breastfeeding
• I will visit you within the first week after the birth of your baby to review the birth and address any concerns you have with breastfeeding or newborn care
• Additional visits can be arranged
